Billy Joel is postponing his tour for four months after surgery over an unspecified medical condition, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame artist announced Tuesday morning.

“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel wrote on Instagram, telling fans he’s expecting a full recovery and that he’d be undergoing physical therapy with his doctors. “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

Joel is pushing back show dates in Detroit, Toronto, Syracuse, Salt Lake City, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Charlotte, and Milwaukee, with the Detroit gig rescheduled for November while the rest have moved to 2026. Joel kick the tour back up at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh in July, and he’ll play New York shows at Yankee Stadium, Metlife Stadium and Citi Field in July and August.

Joel’s rescheduled dates are listed below. Tickets for the original dates will be valid for the rescheduled concerts.

Joel played his 100th show as part of a decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden last year, with CBS airing the concert special last April. The network re-aired the concert after cutting off the last moments of the show due to a timing error.

Joel also played the Grammys for the first time in over 20 years last year, playing his most recent single “Turn The Lights Back On” and closing out last year’s awards with “You May Be Right.”
