Though the beloved Jennifer Coolidge isn’t in The White Lotus season three, she still wants her character avenged.
While speaking with Forbes recently, the actress noted she’s keeping up with the new season that’s taking place in Thailand and she’s “envious as hell.”
Coolidge played fan-favorite Tanya in the first two seasons of The White Lotus before her character met a tragic demise at the end of the second installment. (Who can forget her iconic line: “These gays, they’re trying to murder me.”) She also won Emmys for both performances.
After Forbes‘ Jeff Conway suggested she should return as a twin sister to Tanya, the Riff Raff actress responded, “I know! Look, it’s not like I haven’t wished or whatever, but it isn’t happening. It doesn’t matter — they don’t need me. Mike White can tell a story better than anybody.”
Coolidge went on to praise the new season, which has aired two episodes so far. “In the first episode [of season three], I felt like — Oh, this is going to be really good! I just felt like everything he [White] set up — it’s really eerie — you’re not quite sure what people are up to yet. My guess? Something’s going to go horribly wrong. I think it’s really going to go wrong,” she said. “Mike White, he wants us to have it all, I think. I can’t wait.”
And it’s safe to assume Coolidge hopes it all goes “horribly wrong” for one person in particular: Greg, played by Jon Gries, who made a surprise return in the new season under the name Gary. Tanya and Greg had a toxic marriage in season two, with Greg allegedly hiring someone to kill her. However, Tanya survives the kidnapping only to fall to her death from a boat while trying to escape.
“As you know, Jon Gries has shown up. I hope he gets it! I hope they do something terrible to him,” Coolidge confessed. And as White Lotus fans know, anything can happen when White’s in charge.
Season three also stars Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Sam Nivola, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Scott Glenn and Blackpink’s Lisa Manobal.
Coolidge admitted last year that she was “jealous of everyone” working on the third installment.
