Suspense and high style will be served up in equal measure as the Oscars 2025 red carpet kicks off Sunday afternoon at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
With a few of the top trophies anything but foregone conclusions, the 2025 Academy Awards should keep viewers interested and guessing until the end of the 3-hour, 30-minute broadcast, which begins at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on both ABC and streaming live on Hulu.
Among the questions: Will The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody capture the best actor Oscar, or will it go to Timothée Chalamet for his much-lauded turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown? Will Demi Moore cap a thrilling awards season by winning best actress for The Substance, or might Golden Globe winner Fernanda Torres emerge as the dark horse to take home the prize for her performance in I’m Still Here? As for best picture, will Academy voters give the night’s most anticipated award to The Brutalist, or might they have chosen box-office favorite Wicked, which as of Feb. 28 had grossed $728.2 million worldwide, making it the top-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical in history?
Speculation is also rampant over how politics may play a role in the evening, from the jokes Oscars 2025 host Conan O’Brien has been preparing to impassioned acceptance speeches by any of the winners.
Finally, a key question for fashion fans tuning in as early as 4 p.m. ET to watch preshow coverage on E!: What will everyone wear on the high-wattage red carpet that now competes with May’s Met Gala as the year’s most significant style parade? Moore and fellow best actress nominee Cynthia Erivo are among the night’s most anticipated arrivals, alongside presenters Selena Gomez and Margaret Qualley and nominees Mikey Madison, Ariana Grande and Zoe Saldaña. On the men’s side, Sing Sing best actor nominee Colman Domingo and The Apprentice best supporting actor nominee Jeremy Strong should once again flex their forward-thinking style with their sartorial choices.
